There are two chess variants played on a 5x6 board that are good for kids, esp. when they are new to the game.
There are two chess variants played on a 5x6 board that are good for kids, esp. when they are new to the game, as it works well with shorter attention spans.


They are called "QuickChess" and "Chess Attack".

There are two chess variants played on a 5x6 board that are good for kids, esp. when they are new to the game, as it works well with shorter attention spans.

They are called "QuickChess" and "Chess Attack".

Of the two only the former seems to still be available commercially, however it's easy to DIY, all you need to do is print this (link), double sided (duplex), it's best on cardstock paper and laminated.

Add standard tournament pieces, a bit cramped but works!
